In July 2025, global crude steel production for the 70 countries/reGIons reporting to the worldsteel Association was 150.1 million tonnes, a year-on-year decrease of 1.3%.
Crude Steel Production by Region
In July 2025, Africa produced 1.9 million tonnes of crude steel, a decrease of 2.0% year-on-year; Asia and Oceania produced 110.4 million tonnes of crude steel, a decrease of 1.9% year-on-year; the EU (27) produced 10.2 million tonnes of crude steel, a decrease of 7.0% year-on-year; Other European countries produced 3.6 million tonnes of crude steel, an increase of 2.6% year-on-year; the Middle East produced 4.4 million tonnes of crude steel, an increase of 27.7% year-on-year; North America produced 9.4 million tonnes of crude steel, an increase of 5.8% year-on-year; Russia and the CIS + Ukraine produced 6.7 million tonnes of crude steel, a decrease of 5.1% year-on-year; and South America produced 3.6 million tonnes of crude steel, a decrease of 4.5% year-on-year.
Top Ten Countries by Crude Steel Production
In July 2025, China's crude steel production was 79.66 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 4.0%;
India's crude steel production was 14 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 14.0%;
Japan's crude steel production was 6.9 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 2.5%;
US crude steel production was 7.1 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 4.8%;
Russia's estimated crude steel production was 5.7 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 2.4%;
South Korea's crude steel production was 5.3 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 4.7%;
Turkey's crude steel production was 3.2 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 4.2%;
Germany's crude steel production was 2.7 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 13.7%;
Brazil's estimated crude steel production was 2.9 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 5.5%;
Iran's crude steel production was 2.2 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 29.7%.
