TFS Tin Free Steel
Tin Free Steel
TFS tin free steel is an alternative to tin-plated thin steel sheets that has been researched in order to reduce the use of tin, which is relatively scarce in the world's stockpiles and expensive, and to reduce the cost of can making.
HOW TFS VALUE
Tin Free Steel Coils And Sheet
The surface condition of TFS is classified into shot peening surface, hemp surface and stone surface, which are suitable for different application scenarios.
- Metallic chrome lustre
- Resistance to thermal deterioration
Production process of TFS
The tin-coated free coil production process combines a ‘two-step process’ using low mass concentrations of electrolytes such as CrO3 and SO4-2, F-, to obtain a TFS metallic chrome layer with good paint adhesion and metallic lustre.
Compared with tin coated steel sheet, TFS has the following differences:
Appearance: The surface of TFS shows a unique metallic chrome lustre and surface defects are visible.
Corrosion resistance: The corrosion resistance of TFS is superior to that of tin-plated sheets, especially in terms of resistance to thermal deterioration, sulphurisation and filamentary corrosion.
TFS is mainly used in the manufacture of various packaging containers, such as canning boxes and food cans.
Due to its excellent coating adhesion, good resistance to heat change, vulcanisation and filament corrosion, TFS has a wide range of applications in the food packaging industry.
