Production Process

Steelmaking process
Converter primary refining: Use oxygen top-blown converter (BOF) or top-bottom combined blowing technology to smelt, the final carbon content is accurately controlled to the target range, and argon blowing and stirring are implemented at the bottom of the ladle to uniform the composition.
Secondary refining: Optimize the morphology of inclusions through LF furnace refining, use low-basicity slag to reduce the sulfur and phosphorus content, and RH vacuum treatment to reduce the total oxygen content of the molten steel to ≤13ppm.
Composition control: Ensure the carbon content is 0.69-0.76%, the manganese content is 0.30-0.60%, and the sulfur and phosphorus impurities are strictly controlled to ≤0.03%.
Continuous casting process
Protective casting: Argon gas is sealed throughout the process to prevent secondary oxidation of molten steel. The continuous casting machine uses R5m arc type to produce 110mm×110mm square billets.
Solidification control: By adjusting the temperature of the tundish and the pulling speed (typical value 0.9-1.1m/min), the center segregation index of the billet is stabilized at 0.94-1.06.
Rolling and controlled cooling
Heating rolling: The billet is heated to 1100-1200℃ in a step-type heating furnace, and multi-pass controlled rolling is performed on a high-speed wire rod mill, and the final rolling temperature is controlled at 850-950℃.
Controlled cooling process: After rolling, the wire enters the Stelmor controlled cooling line for graded cooling, and the final cooling temperature is ≤600℃ to obtain a uniform sorbite structure with a tensile strength of ≥1200MPa.
Quality verification and optimization
Performance testing: tensile strength and microstructure are verified through tensile testing and metallographic analysis to ensure that the application requirements of tire bead wire, hose wire, etc. are met.
Process iteration: In view of the residual Class B inclusions in the trial production, the refined slag composition and argon blowing parameters are optimized to improve the purity of the finished product.
