1. 2.8mm x 1500mm: an economical choice for thinness and high precision
Core advantages: light weight (6.5kg/m²), transport and installation costs reduced by 20%-30%; suitable for high-speed punching machine processing, punching accuracy up to ±0.1mm.
Application cases: an air-conditioning manufacturer uses 2.8mm Q235B coil, stamping production of heat sink bracket, annual savings of more than 1.2 million yuan in material costs; the construction industry used to make light fire partition wall skeleton, wind pressure resistance through the GB / T 13475 test.
2. 9.8mm × 1500mm: balanced performance to meet the needs of medium-sized structures
Core advantages: balanced strength and ductility, static load capacity up to 18 tonnes/m²; compatible with submerged arc welding (SAW) and shielded gas welding (MIG), weld strength ≥ 90% of the base material;
Application cases: a logistics equipment enterprises use 9.8mm coil to manufacture storage rack columns, load-bearing indicators exceed EN 15635 standards; agricultural machinery manufacturers use it for harvester chassis, fatigue life test up to 500,000 times without cracks.

3. 13.8mm × 1500mm: reliable guarantee in heavy-duty scenarios
Core Advantage: Outstanding resistance to bending and deformation, deflection <L/400 under 14m span; dense surface oxide skin, outdoor weather resistance increased by 400.
Application cases: a shipyard used 13.8mm coil to process the hull segment support frame, which passed the certification of CCS classification society; wind turbine tower manufacturer used it for the foundation ring reinforcement plate, and the tensile strength fluctuation rate was controlled within ±2%.

Production process
Raw material preparation: The raw material for producing Q235B hot-rolled coil is molten steel obtained by smelting iron ore. The molten steel is decarburized in the converter and an appropriate amount of alloying elements are added to ensure that its chemical composition meets the requirements of Q235B steel.
Molten steel casting: The molten steel with adjusted composition is sent to the casting machine for continuous casting or die casting to form a preliminary steel billet. The continuous casting process can produce steel billets of different sections, such as square billets or round billets, as raw materials for subsequent hot rolling.
Heating: After the initial casting, the steel billet is sent to the heating furnace for heating. The heating temperature is usually between 1100-1300, which makes the steel billet soft enough for the subsequent rolling process.
Hot rolling: The heated steel billet is rolled through multiple rollers of the roughing mill and the finishing mill, and gradually pressed into the required thickness. The steel in the hot rolling process will become a thin strip of steel at high temperature, and its thickness and width can be adjusted after rolling.
Cooling: After the hot-rolled steel coil passes through the rolling mill, it enters the cooling system. The cooling method can be natural cooling or rapid cooling, depending on the required product specifications and performance requirements.
Coiling: The cooled hot-rolled steel strip is fed into the coiler and rolled into a coil. The diameter and width of the coil will be adjusted according to customer needs and product specifications.
Inspection and cutting: The coil will undergo strict quality inspection before leaving the factory, including size, thickness, surface quality, etc. Qualified coils will be cut and packaged and ready for delivery to customers.
Selection Guide: How to match the best thickness to the project requirements?
Load type:
Dynamic loads (e.g. vibrating screen frame): 9.8mm is preferred for better toughness;
Static loads (e.g. warehouse flooring): 13.8mm reduces the number of support points.
Processing method:
Laser cutting: 2.8mm is the most efficient (speed up to 12m/min), and the cut is smooth;
Bending and forming: 9.8mm recommended minimum bending radius 8t (t is thickness) to avoid cracking.
Cost control:
When the budget is limited, 2.8mm material utilisation rate is over 95%, and the corners can be recycled.
