Low Carbon Steel
Classification
Low carbon steel plate is divided into cold-rolled and hot-rolled two kinds of cold rolled carbon steel plate surface quality, thickness and size of the precise, mostly used in the manufacture of car body and so on.
Hot rolled carbon steel plate is mostly used for manufacturing car frame and so on.The types of steel plate are usually divided into three types according to their thickness: thick plate (more than 6mm), medium-thick plate (3-6mm) and thin plate (less than 3mm).
Hot rolling alone can produce about 1.2mm of mild steel plate and stainless steel plate of about 2mm, thinner plates are cold rolled and annealed and tempered rolled to manufacture.
Annealed
The annealed organisation of mild steel is ferrite and a small amount of pearlite, which has low strength and hardness, good plasticity and toughness. Therefore, its cold formability is good, and it can be cold formed by crimping, bending, stamping and other methods.

Excellent Formability
Excellent ductility allows for easy hot and cold processing, such as stamping, bending, stretching, and deep drawing, significantly reducing processing difficulty and cost.

Excellent Weldability
Low carbon content significantly reduces the tendency of hardening and cold cracking in the heat-affected zone (HAZ), enabling high-quality welds using a variety of welding methods.

Excellent toughness
Maintains excellent impact resistance at both room and low temperatures.

Economical and efficient
Raw material costs are relatively low, and the production process is mature, resulting in an extremely high overall cost-effectiveness.
Why Choose Mild Steel?
Competitiveness from Savings: Advantages in raw material and manufacturing costs translate directly into product competitiveness.
Fast Efficiency: Excellent processing performance shortens production cycles and improves equipment utilization.
Solid Quality: Proven processes ensure stable performance and reduce quality risks.
Boundless Applications: From building frames to automotive exteriors, from furniture tubing to standard components, our products are used in a wide range of applications.
Chemical Composition
The cornerstone of low carbon steel's performance lies in its strict composition control and stable and reliable mechanical performance.
| Element | Function and Effect | Typical Content Range (wt%) |
|---|---|---|
| Carbon (C) | Core element: The primary factor determining strength and hardness. | ≤ 0.25% |
| Manganese (Mn) | Deoxidizes and desulfurizes, refines grains, and improves strength and toughness. Moderate content. | 0.30% - 0.65% |
| Silicon (Si) | A strong deoxidizer, it improves strength, hardness, and elastic limit. Excessive amounts can reduce plasticity and toughness. | ≤ 0.30% |
| Phosphorus (P) | Solid solution strengthening improves strength and hardness, but severely impairs ductility and toughness, so strict control is required. | ≤ 0.045% |
|---|---|---|
| Sulfur (S) | Forms sulfide inclusions, impairing toughness and ductility (hot brittleness), and requires strict control. | ≤ 0.045% |
| Others | (Al, Cr, Ni, Cu, Mo, V, Ti, etc.) are typically present in very low concentrations, often as residual elements or microalloying additions. | Trace - Minor |

Applications
Road and Railway Construction: Carbon and steel is used to build and repair road and railway infrastructure, providing structural stability and durability.
Civil Construction: In the construction industry, low steel plates are used to make roofs, walls and other structural components, providing strength and stability.
Water Construction: In water projects, mild steel plates are used to build dams, aqueducts, etc., ensuring strong and safe engineering.
Mechanical and Electrical: Carbon steel sheets are also widely used in the manufacture of various mechanical components and electrical products such as motors, transformers, etc., due to their good electrical conductivity and workability.
Window Protection: In window manufacturing, mild steel sheets are used to make window frames and other structural components, providing strength and durability.
Aquaculture: Mild steel plates are also used in the construction and maintenance of aquaculture facilities, providing stability and protection.
In addition, low carbon steel plate may be less efficient due to its high iron loss factor and the high speed of series-excited motors, but this does not affect its wide range of applications in various fields. These areas of application reflect the value of mild steel sheets in improving the strength, durability and safety of engineered structures.

The forms and specifications of mild steel products we supply
1. Sheet/Plate:
Hot-rolled sheet/coil (HRC/HRP): Thicknesses range from 1.5mm to several hundred millimeters, with common widths of 1000mm, 1250mm, 1500mm, 1800mm, and 2000mm. Grades include Q235B, Q345B, SS400, S235JR, A36, and SPHC. Applications: Structural components, equipment bases, vessel plates (medium and low pressure), bridges, ships, and construction machinery.
Cold-rolled sheet/coil (CRC/CRS): Thicknesses range from 0.3mm to 3.0mm, with widths similar to hot-rolled or customizable. Grades include SPCC, DC01, and ST12. Applications: Automotive panels, home appliance panels, computer chassis, office furniture, and precision stampings.
Pickled sheet/coil: Hot-rolled sheet is pickled to remove scale, resulting in superior surface quality compared to hot-rolled. Applications: Components requiring surface finish but not requiring cold-rolled precision.
Galvanized Sheet/Coil (GI/GL): Cold-rolled or hot-rolled base plate, hot-dip galvanized. Grades include DX51D+Z, SGCC, and GI (ASTM A653). Applications: Building roofing and siding, ventilation ducts, home appliances, and automotive parts (for corrosion protection).
2. Strip: Narrow, long sheets, typically supplied in coils. Available in hot-rolled, cold-rolled, galvanized, and pickled forms. Applications: Welded pipe raw material, lightweight steel structure purlins, metal stampings, strapping tape, saw blade backing, etc.
3. Sections:
Angle: Equal or unequal sides, available in a full range of specifications.
Channel: Channels meet national, European, and American standards.
I-Beams/H-Beams: Standard, lightweight, and wide-flange types.
