The definitions of the aluminized zinc sheets and stainless STEEL PLATEs are different
Aluminized zinc sheetthick steel plate means that in order to avoid corrosion of the surface of the thick steel plate and increase its service life, the surface of the thick steel plate coat with a layer of metal zinc and aluminum.This kind of galvanized cold-rolled Steel Sheet is called galvalume.
Stainless steel plate refers to steel that is resistant to weak corrosive substances such as gas, steam, water and organic chemical corrosive substances such as acid, alkali, salt, etc.It is also called stainless acid-resistant steel.
Corrosion Resistance
Aluminized Steel: Relies on the sacrificial protection of the aluminum-zinc coating. The aluminum offers excellent barrier protection against oxidation (rust) and high heat. The zinc component provides galvanic protection, sacrificing itself to protect exposed steel edges or scratches. Excellent for atmospheric corrosion (like roofing, automotive underbodies) and high-temperature oxidation (exhaust systems). However, if the coating is deeply scratched, cut, or abraded, the underlying carbon steel will rust. Performance decreases significantly in acidic, alkaline, or continuous saltwater immersion environments.
Stainless Steel: Resists corrosion inherently due to its chromium oxide passive layer. This layer self-repairs in the presence of oxygen. Grades like 304 offer good general corrosion resistance; 316 with molybdenum offers superior resistance to chlorides (e.g., saltwater, de-icing salts). Highly resistant to rust, acids, alkalis, and salt. Much better suited for harsh chemical environments, marine applications, food processing, and architectural applications where long-term appearance and integrity are critical. Doesn't rely on a coating that can be damaged.
Choose Aluminized Steel when you need good corrosion and heat resistance at the lowest possible cost, especially for parts like automotive exhausts, heat shields, furnace components, ductwork, or agricultural/industrial building panels where appearance isn't critical and the coating won't be severely damaged.
Choose Stainless Steel when you need superior corrosion resistance, hyGIene, aesthetic appeal, high strength, or longevity in harsh environments, and budget is less of a constraint. Examples include kitchen equipment, chemical processing tanks, marine hardware, architectural facades, medical instruments, and high-end appliances.
