China’s steel social inventory situation in December

In mid-December, the social inventory of the five major varieties of steel in 21 cities was 7.19 million tons, a month-on-month decrease of 180,000 tons, or 2.4%. The inventory continued to decline slightly; a decrease of 330,000 tons, or 4.4%, from the beginning of this year; a decrease of 170,000 tons from the same period last year. Down 2.3%.

South China is the region with the largest decrease in social steel inventory.

In mid-December, in terms of regions, inventories in the seven major regions each increased or decreased. The specific situation is as follows: the inventory in South China decreased by 220,000 tons month-on-month, a decrease of 12.8%, which was the region with the largest reduction and decline; the inventory in Central China decreased by 50,000 tons, a decrease of 6.1%; East China decreased by 20,000 tons, down 1.0%; North China's inventory increased by 40,000 tons, up 4.9% month-on-month, being the region with the largest increase and increase; Southwest China increased by 40,000 tons, up 3.8%; Northwest China increased by 20,000 tons, up 4.0%; the Northeast region increased 10,000 tons, up 2.8%.

Hot rolled steel coils are the variety with the largest decrease in volume and decline.

In mid-December, among the social inventories of the five major types of steel products, the inventory of long products increased month-on-month, while the inventory of flat products decreased month-on-month. Among them, hot rolled steel in coils were the variety with the largest decrease and decline.

Hot rolled steel plate inventory is 1.46 million tons, a month-on-month decrease of 150,000 tons, a decrease of 9.3%, and the inventory decline has expanded; a decrease of 110,000 tons, a decrease of 7.0% from the beginning of this year; a decrease of 50,000 tons, a decrease of 3.3% compared with the same period last year.

Cold rolled steel coil inventory is 1.04 million tons, a month-on-month decrease of 10,000 tons, a decrease of 1.0%. The inventory continues to decline slightly; a decrease of 90,000 tons, a decrease of 8.0% from the beginning of this year; a decrease of 120,000 tons, a decrease of 10.3% compared with the same period last year.

The inventory of medium and heavy plates is 960,000 tons, a month-on-month decrease of 60,000 tons, or 5.9%. The inventory continues to decline, with the decline expanding; an increase of 20,000 tons, or 2.1%, from the beginning of this year; an increase of 10,000 tons, or 1.1%, from the same period last year.

Wire rod inventory is 800,000 tons, an increase of 10,000 tons or 1.3% month-on-month. The inventory has turned from a decrease to an increase; it is basically the same as at the beginning of this year; it is an increase of 60,000 tons or 8.1% over the same period last year.

Rebar inventory is 2.93 million tons, an increase of 30,000 tons or 1.0% month-on-month. The inventory has turned from falling to rising; it is 150,000 tons or 4.9% lower than the beginning of this year; it is 70,000 tons or 2.3% lower than the same period last year.
